The Secret Garden

It has been yet another gloomy day in Essex, and though it isn't even autumn yet you can definitely feel a chill in the air. In our best attempts to squeeze the last out of the fast fading sunshine, myself and mum took a trip to the local garden centre. On the agenda today was a spot of lunch and a quick browse in the shop. The Secret Garden is one of those small, quirky, hidden gem like finds. The cafe sells everything from afternoon tea, to a good old Sunday roast. It is one of my favourite places to go on those rare English sunny days, as the outside seating area transports you to what feels like, a distant world, far from Essex. It's the perfect place to go if you want to catch up with friends or have a relaxing afternoon. If you're lucky the resident chickens might even come and say hello.

The garden centre itself is yet again unusual. Not only does it sell your everyday run of the mill potting plants and shrubs, but they have now opened up a small grocery that sells local fresh produce. After a spot of shopping, mum couldn't help but purchase a small egg holder for the kitchen. Apparently she just couldn't resist.
